Join the Women’s Center for Take Back the Night!

Tuesday, April 5 · 6:30pm - 9:00pm

We Will Start in the Women’s Center, LaCava 120

Join the Bentley Women’s Center and Alpha Phi to “Take Back the Night” from relationship abuse and violence. This event is an internationally held march and rally intended as a protest and direct action against rape and other forms of sexual violence.

We will meet in the Women’s Center and walk down to the Fenway Skybox with Campus Police. Once there, we will listen to a speaker and have dinner.

This event is FREE for all members of the Bentley community and is not to be missed!

Co-sponsored by the Women’s Center and Alpha Phi

Elections: New E-Board

The new Women’s Center Executive board has been elected, with the new board members assuming their roles immediately. Congratulations to all of the newly elected members, the list of whom may be found on our Officers page.

Waltham Crossings

Our third and final visit to Waltham Crossings this semester was held this past Sunday. As usual, we had a great activity planned (making miniature beaded turkeys). The residents loved the activity, which allowed for them to bring gifts to their families for Thanksgiving. Thank you to everyone who made this possible, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Waltham Crossings next semester.

Love Your Body Day

This event was an absolute success! Though we had a few last minute cancellations, everyone did a great job covering all of our activities. We’d like to thank our sorority cosponsors for their attendance. This annual event was a hit, as always, with items such as massages being fully signed out within the first hour.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed to its success! As always, if anyone has any suggestions or would like to get more involved, email or visit us!

Breast Cancer Walk

The annual Boston Breast Cancer Walk was held yesterday. The Women’s Center Team Bentley attended in full force, meeting our goal for donations. The majority took the bus to the walk, which was great for team morale and walking together. Others did attend at other times, allowing for us to have a part in many aspects of the event. It was great to see so many from Bentley supporting this important cause - many walking, and organizations such as Circle K volunteering at the event itself.

Breast Cancer Reception

Last night was our annual Breast Cancer Reception, co-hosted with Bentley’s Colleges Against Cancer. The food, shirts, and bingo all combined well. We had a great number of people sign up for the buses. If you would like to attend the walk with the Women’s Center, please contact our chair. The walk is this Sunday!

Grand Reopening

Tonight was the Grand Reopening of the Bentley University Women’s Center. While we are of course still adjusting to our new space, we are exceedingly happy with it and look forward to our future in LaCava 120.

There was a great turnout from both faculty and students, which made it a terrific event. We were all able to meet new people while celebrating our successful reopening.

If you missed the event (which had some great food), feel free to stop by at any time. We love having visitors, many of whom simply do homework, hang out, watch tv, or pass time between classes. Remember: LaCava 120 is a great alternative to the library if you’d like a place to study yet sprawl our a bit!

Greater Boston Food Bank

This past Sunday, we went to the Greater Boston Food Bank. It was a great cause, which we were happy to be a part of for the day. This event had a great turnout, as we collaborated on it with Circle K. For more information on our upcoming volunteer events, please refer to our Events page.

Waltham Crossings

Today we had our monthly (or so) volunteer event at Waltham Crossings. We had a great time helping the residents create fall-themed decorations for their doors. As always, the residents were in great spirits; all had a grand time. We look forward to returning in November, when we will be creating pineapple turkeys for the residents to bring to their family Thanksgiving dinners. Keep an eye out for sign-ups!

First General Meeting

Thank you to all who attended our first general meeting this afternoon. It was held in our NEW CENTER, located at LaCava 120 - just two halls down from our prior location. We are in the process of making the space truly feel like our new home, with which we welcome all members’ input.

If you missed this meeting yet would like to be involved in the center, please feel more than welcome to attend our regularly scheduled general meetings, every Monday at 2:10 pm in the Women’s Center at LaCava 120. If you are unable to attend, contact us and we will keep you up to date with meeting minutes, volunteer opportunities, and events!
